He became director of the Good Samaritan Centers, a Lutheran children’s agency, then head of Orange County’s Albert Sitton Home for abused and neglected children in 1978.

Orangewood is a safe haven for youth who have unwillingly found themselves in very unfortunate circumstances and need short-term protection. Each year hundreds of children, ranging from newborn to 18 years of age are brought here to Orangewood for reasons from alleged abuse, to neglect and abandonment. Orangewood Children and Family Center (formerly Orangewood Children’s home) is operated by the Orange County Social Services Agency and is a nationally- recognized shelter for neglected and abused children.
